Sri Ramakrishna Vijayam conducts 10^th National Youth Day Competition 2012 (YDC - 2012)

Sri Ramakrishna Vijayam, the Tamil monthly magazine of Ramakrishna Order, has been conducting National Youth Day Competition (YDC) every year since 9 years to commemorate the birthday (Jan 12th) of Swami Vivekananda. The competition serves the nation by rejuvenating the youth energy with the positive man making and patriotic ideas of Swamiji.

Over 6.25 lakh youth have participated till year 2011 and had won prizes worth several lakhs.

 The details of this year’s (2012) competition are as follows

1. Books having the powerful ideas of Swamiji have been prescribed for each group.
2. Questions have been framed from the same book and attached in the last pages of the respective books.
3. The students have to send answers either through their institutions or individually.
4. GROUP 1: Books titled ‘Vivekananda for students’ and its Tamil version ‘மாணவர்களுக்கு விவேகானந்தர்’ are for GROUP 1 (Classes from 6^th to 8^th std).
5. GROUP 2: Books titled ‘Swami Vivekananda Speaks to you’ and its Tamil version ‘சுவாமி விவேகானந்தர் அழைக்கிறார்’ are for GROUP 2 (Classes from 9^th to 12^th std).
6. GROUP 3: Books titled ‘Rebuild India’ and its Tamil version ‘புதிய இந்தியாவைப் படைப்போம்’ are for GROUP 3 (College students and youth of age group 18 to 35 years).
7. The answer to the question raised in Part II of the book ‘Rebuild India’ may be written in the form of Essay, Drama or Poetry.
8. The participants have to pay a sum of Rs. 10/- as Registration fee. This can be paid by cash/DD in favor of “Sri Ramakrishna Math, Chennai”.
9. Participants can write answers either in English or in Tamil.
10. On receipt of registration fee, books will be sent to participant's address.

Prizes:

1. Institutions sending more than 1000 responses will be rewarded with Special Prizes.
2. Last Date for receipt of application Forms is 15-9-2011.
3. Last date for sending answer papers is 31-10 2011.
4. Application for requisition of books can be downloaded from the website also (see end of page).

Prizes will be given to prize winners on the 12^th of January 2012, the National Youth Day, in the Prize Distribution Function to be held at the Math Premises.

Certificates will be given to every participant.

A Retreat on Spirituality and Values
9-12 June 2011
Venue: Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda College

A residential camp for young men between 15 and 30 years will be held from 9th (Thursday) to 12th (Sunday) June 2011. The youth will be provided guidance in value-based living,leadership skills, personality development, Yoga and meditation in the light of the teachings of Bhagawan Sri Ramakrishna and Swami Vivekananda. There will be insightful talks by eminent monks and learned persons. There would be interactive sessions too.

The participants will be taken on a guided trip to Sri Ramakrishna Math at Mylapore and the Cultural Exhibition in Vivekananda House (where Swami Vivekananda stayed for 9 days in 1897) at Kamarajar Salai in Chennai.

The Valedictory Session will be held at Sri Ramakrishna Math, Mylapore, in Chennai on 12.6.2011 evening.

Please note:
1. The camp will be fully residential.
2. Medium of instruction will be Tamil / English.
3. Number of participants is 200 on first-come-first served basis.

How to Register:
1. You can register at the Math or through your school/college.
2. The fee for the Camp is Rs.200/-
3. Interested youths should fill the application form and send it together with the fee to Sri Ramakrishna Math, 31, Sri Ramakrishna Math Road, Mylapore, Chennai-4.
4. Cheque / Draft should be drawn in favour of Sri Ramakrishna Math, Chennai.
5. The last date for registration is 20 May 2011.

Ramakrishna Mission, Delhi is planning a series of celebrations under the banner “Awakening India” heralding the 150th Birth Anniversary Celebration of Swami Vivekananda.

The Honorable Prime Minister of India has launched the Awakening India Initiative on 12th January 2011 and has released a book titled 'Awakening India' in English and 'Bharat Jagaran' in Hindi during the inaugural function.

As part of this initiative Ramakrishna Mission, Delhi is conducting an online competition for school students across the country.

The Public Celebration of Swami Vivekananda Jayanti will be held on Sunday, 30th January 2011 at Swami Vivekananda Centenary Hall in the Math premises.
