Swami Ramakrishnananda, direct disciple, of Sri Ramakrishna stayed at Ice House, Chennai for nearly 10 years. One of his students, Sri Kondiah Chettiar donated a plot of land at Mylapore, where Swami Ramakrishnananda built a small math and stayed there for four years sanctifying the place. The old math building of Shashi Maharaj time does not exist now, but the plot is a part of the present Math premises and is still conserved.
To commemorate Swami Ramakrishnananda’s 150th birthday celebrations, a beautiful Mandapam has been constructed in the same sacred spot where the Swami’s room and the shrine of Sri Ramakrishna were located. The three great Acharyas namely Sri Sankara, Sri Ramanuja and Sri Madhva along with the yuga-acharya of modern times Swami Vivekananda grace the top of the Mandapam. The Mandapam was inaugurated on 15th July 2012 by Srimat Swami Suhitanandaji Maharaj, General Secretary, Ramakrishna Math & Mission.
There is no doubt that Swami Ramakrishnananda, an embodiment of service, who views devotees’ welfare as his own, continues to live in this Math bestowing his grace on all!
